I’m a computer scientist by training with 20+ years of experience across AI, machine learning, and data science. I build software and AI/ML products as an independent builder.
Previously I was Director of Machine Learning (ML) at The Knot Worldwide , and Chief Data Scientist at zData, the US Data Science and AI practice of Atos (now Eviden). I came there via acquisition of Miner & Kasch , an AI and Data Science consulting startup. Before joining the industry world I did research at the National Cancer Institute and in the AI Group at the University of Maryland (UMD) . I received my Ph.D. (2012) and M.S. in CS at UMD, co-advised by Dana Nau (CS) and Michele Gelfand (Cultural Psychology). My interest in interdisciplinary work launched under Bill Manaris during my B.S. in Data Science at the College of Charleston (2007).
I grew up in Bavaria, Germany and became a US citizen after having lived in the US for about half of my life. Outside of work I spend a lot of time training and (no longer really) competing in Muay Thai.
